Third Party Long Distance:

PROS:

  • Uses normal phones
  • Good rates (3.3c/min to North America / many "western" nations)
  • excellent quality

CONS:

  • requires slightly more "dialing" to place a call (i.e, call a "local access number" first, then provide the phone number you wish to connect to).

EXAMPLES AND COMMENTS:

GoldLine D-Call

  • must sign up and register at least one primary phone
  • calls are billed per-minute, no connection fee etc.
  • 1-800 calling card style access available for ~10c/min extra
  • payment model is via "pay before you use" with your visa typically. Balance never expires, no management fees etc.
